A couple of weeks later Jason woke up with a queasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. Rubbing his tummy as he raced to the toilet. Falling to his knees he threw up in the bowl.

Wonder crept into his eyes when he realized that there was only one thing it could be: he was pregnant with the king's babies. He was so excited and pleased he wanted to race up to the king, but his elation fell when he realized that they would be bastards. He couldn't allow the king's name to be soiled like this.

He gripped his stomach as fear shook through him. Jason couldn't allow his babies to be illegitimate.

"What can I do?" He whimpered. "I've got to get out of here."

Hurrying to his room, he threw his meager possessions into a bag. With one long last mournful look he left, leaving behind the only life he'd ever known. Taking a horse from the Royal stable he rode out of the city. He didn't know how he'd take care of the king's babies, but he'd find a way. He had to.

Riding down a narrow path heading for the next kingdom, he wiped a tear from his eye. The closer he got to the next kingdom, the heavier his heart became. He knew the king would be angry with him, but he was only doing it to save him from scorn and wagging paws.

What can I do in the next city? How am I going to support my babies? Maybe I can be a spy for a Lord or something.

A swooshing sound interrupted his thoughts, looking up he saw a net falling from the trees. Before he could leap away, he was hopelessly tangled in it and fell from his horse.

He tried to wiggle out of the net, but he found it was sticky. No matter how he tried he couldn't move.

"Lookie here! What have we caught in our net boys?" A werefox looked at him hungrily.

"Who do you think he is, boss? Could he be a courier?" A badger ambled up to the fox and inspected their prize.

The fox laughed shrilly as he studied Jason. The weremouse swallowed as he attempted not to tremble. He had to protect the king's babies at all costs.

"Guys! We might get a few coppers for this one," cawed a raven, cocking his head.

"Nah, I say maybe three or five gold." The badger growled.

"I say we hold him for ransom for 100 gold." The fox chuckled as he thought of what that gold could get him.

"So you are going to hold that rodent for 100 gold?" The raven inquired, tapping his claws impatiently on a branch.

"Go tell the king that we have his mouse and we are demanding 100 gold." The fox instructed the wereraven.
